… Another name worthy of mention is that of William Hale, who died in October 1828, at the age of 57 years. The inscription on his tomb reveals the esteem with which he was held. It states that he “after many years of affliction, is now gone to enjoy the presence of that dear Saviour he so often spoke of to us, His family, as the true and faithful friend to all that seek Him in real truth, and uprightness of heart.”
WB Gerish records Williams date of death as 11/10/1828.
Will proved dated 11/12/1828
Words written by William's grand daughter Hannah, in the 1884 Gospel Banner in memory of her Father, Daniel...
"I have heard him speak of his father many times with much feeling, and I may say reverence. He was a man who feared God, and a lover of Zion. He was well known to Mr. Huntington; and such was his regard for the cause of truth at Welwyn, that by his special request he was interred in the chapel yard. His end was a blessed one".
[Rev William Huntingdon opened the Welwyn Chapel in June 1792, and was its pastor for many years].
