1901 census shows Martha living with Mercy at 16 Tamworth St. Hertford. The census shows Mary rather than Mercy, but the age shown is 34 (the same as Martha) and is correct for Mercy. Both are living by their own means.

By 1937 Kelly's Directory, only one Miss Hale is living at 16 Tamsworth Road (Martha).
